Do We Live as We believe

Mahatma Gandhi, who looked closely at Christianity as practiced around him in Great Britian, remarked that if only Christians would live according to their belief in the teachings of Jesus, "We all would become Christians." We know what he meant, and he was right in that. But the dismaying truth is that Christians were living according to their "belief" in the teachings of Jesus, they didn't completely believe them.

So how are we doing, do we completely believe the teachings in the Bible?

Do we sift through it finding the verses we want to follow and leaving behind the rest.

Moreover, knowing the "right answers" and being able to identify them doesn't mean we believe them. (Dallas Willard, "Renovation of the Heart")

If we believe them to be true, then we will do so in the appropriate circumstances.

If God's word is where we find our answers to life's problems and we believe it to be true, then we should intend on obeying the examples and teachings of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Scripture is clear, those who seek Christ shall find Him. He will manifest (show) himself to those that enquire after Him. The evidence presents itself in the Bible. These words are not empty sounds, but they are spirit and they are life.

Luke 24: 36-43

As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, "Peace to you!" But they were startled and frightened and thought they saw a spirit. And He said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have." And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. And while they still disbelieved for joy and were marveling, He said to them. "Have you anything to eat?" They gave Him a piece of broiled fish, and He took it and ate before them.

Jesus silenced their fears, showing them He was not a spirit and strengthened their faith. He ate with them.

Acts 10:41 We did eat and drink with Him after He rose from the dead.

We have the same proof today.

We have the same choice today as to whether we will believe or not believe.

Let us live as we believe.

Until next time. Pam

It seems like all we hear or talk about is the trouble in our lives or our nation’s division. Augustine had asked two questions of the world; “If there is no God, why is there so much good? If there is a God, why is there so much evil?”

What is familiar to you? Your children's voice, your spouse, your daily routine, the road you travel? We have many things very familiar to us. Webster defines familiar: common, well known, close association. The word origin from the Latin is, "the family footing."

It is day sixteen of war between Russia and Ukraine. “War can drive us all into the wilderness. Missiles drop, and we drop to our knees. We are a world wildly looking for a way out. We’re a hurting world, desperately fleeing – we see it all over our news screens.” (Ann Voskamp)
